Corporate Phone Bill to Hit $133 billion this Year

According to research firm Insight Research corporations will spend a whopping $133 billion in 2008 on wired and wireless calling. The study says that wireless calling from mobile devices like the BlackBerry and Apple iPhone will account for nearly 39% of the amount.

The report says that wireless calling is the fastest growing expense area for telecommunications in 2008. Wireless revenues are expected to grow at a rate of more than 13% annually from 2007 to 2012 with growth in wired calling expected to remain flat.

“Even without the threat of a recession, revenue growth in wireline services was not forecasted, but now it seems close to a certainty,” says Robert Rosenberg, President of Insight. “On the plus side for carriers, wireless spending is forecasted to increase at a healthy rate, but that increase is going to be uneven across the various business sectors,” Rosenberg concludes.
